The Timeline can take up more height on the page by pointing to the border below the Timeline and dragging down. The tasks will be displayed on the timeline as blue rectangles, with the size of each rectangle representing the duration of the task. Right-click the selected tasks and click Add to Timeline.
To add tasks to the timeline, first select them to select an adjacent range, drag down to select if a non-adjacent range, hold down the Ctrl key whilst selecting the tasks. The Timeline shows the start and finish dares for the project, but if you want tasks displayed on the timeline, you need to add them to it. The Timeline was new to Project 2010 and by default appears above your Gantt chart view.
